An Introduction to “The Cloud”

”The Cloud” or “Cloud Computing” has become a hot topic for many business recently because it promises some big advantages over existing technology in terms of both cost and flexibility.

But sometimes it is difficult to get behind the hype and understand the true value (and cost).

The essence of Cloud is obtaining IT services or resources over the internet.  You may already have looked at applications such as Google Apps, Office 365, CRM systems, or accountancy systems that can be used on a “pay as you go” basis via a web browser, offering attractive opportunities for cost savings when compared to more “traditional” software packages.

But what are the realities of using the “Cloud” in a small business, and how can it support business growth?

This one day workshop will provide SME owners and managers with a better understanding of “The Cloud” and explain how you could benefit from using a range of Cloud services in your business.

Key areas of the session include:

·         What is “The Cloud”?

·         Opportunities and benefits for SMEs

·         “The Cloud” in action – demonstrations and case studies

·         How to identify and select Cloud service providers

·         Planning and managing Cloud projects

·         Challenges and issues: Implementation, management and security

·         Action Planning

The workshop will be led by a highly experienced team with a successful track record of enabling small businesses to utilise new technologies.  They’ll be spending time with you in an action planning session at the end of the course to help you define your way forward.

Please note this event is being held at the Radisson Park Inn in West Bromwich.

Course pre-requisites:

The course is aimed at SME business owners and managers who have an understanding of how technology can enable growth in their businesses and who want to explore the latest advances.

These workshops are delivered with funding from Advantage West Midlands which requires us to maximise the number of SMEs receiving support. Due to unprecedented demand and the need for us to be fair and inclusive to all of the SME businesses in the region, companies are only able to apply for one workshop, additionally we are only able to offer one free delegate place at the chosen workshop.

If more than one representative from a company wants to attend a workshop or a representative from a company wants to attend more than one workshop, a nominal fee of £50 +VAT (to cover the cost of venue and refreshments) will be charged per person per workshop.
